We have had many ear, nose and throat patients in our Long Beach, Garden City and Inwood offices ask us, “What do I do now for the my ENT issues?” The first issue to decide if you still have silent or stomach reflux issues. As ENT’s we would do a thorough ear, nose and throat exam and then decide if further testing is needed. In our Long Beach, NY ENT office we have further specialized equipment to test for reflux.

For those throat clearers out there, this is for you. Much to your chagrin, chronic throat clearing is not normal. Phlegm or mucous in the throat leads to throat clearing. But why does this occur?
I tell all of my ENT patients in Long Beach, NY and Garden City, NY that if they clear their throat, the first step is to set up a complete exam by an ear, nose and throat physician. I utilize a gentle approach as I insert a camera into the nose. This special ENT instrument goes beyond the nose and then is passed into the throat area. I can then see the voice box and evaluate the area for areas of irritation.
One of the more common ENT causes for throat clearing is silent reflux (see picture below). We can determine if our Long Beach, NY or Garden City, NY patients have this problem on the spot and develop an ear, nose and throat plan to get you back on track.
We have all been there, the cough that just won’t go away. Having a lingering cough after a cold or upper respiratory tract infection is common for up to one week after your other symptoms have stopped. For coughs that last longer than that, it is important to see an ear, nose and throat specialist.
I recently had a long conversation about all of the construction in Long Beach. With a huge number of demolitions and reconstruction projects being done in Long Beach, the dust and other particles are being released into the air. We are all breathing in these things and so if your cough lingers and you live in Long Beach, NY it is doubly important to have an ear, nose and throat specialist examine you.

Snoring is very prevalent issue for American adults today. From an occasional snore to the snorer whose sounds wake you like a train running through your home, most of us have snored or know someone who snores regularly.
Snoring can be range from an innocuous annoyance to a sign of obstructive sleep apnea or OSA. Sleep apnea occurs when tissue falls into the throat and closes it decreasing oxygen. The decrease in oxygen then triggers you to wake up from sleep. The result can be extreme fatigue and untreated can lead to premature death.
We at Evergreen E.N.T. are here to help you figure out if you or a loved one just snores (and we have ear, nose and throat treatments for that). Or if you have obstructive sleep apnea. In both our Garden City and Long Beach ENT locations we will first perform a full ear, nose and throat exam and then determine if further testing is needed.
So don’t suffer, come in to one of our 4 convenient locations (Long Beach, Garden City, Inwood or Rosedale) to see one of our ear, nose and throat specialists.
Snoring is a cause of many “bed-partner” disputes. From being pushed in bed, to tossing and turning, to waking yourself up, snoring is no fun for you or for your loved ones!
This noise can be more that an irritation and may be a sign of a more serious problem known as obstructive sleep apnea. In sleep apnea, tissue in your throat and upper air passageways collapses in, decreasing air flow. The result is less oxygen to vital organs. Over time, obstructive sleep apnea can lead to heart disease and a shortened life span.
I am proud to be one of the few ENT specialists in area to focus on the nasal passageways, sinus disease and sleep problems. Whether you see us in Garden City or in Long Beach, Ny we will work with you to provide both easy to implement treatments and advanced diagnostics to better your life and the lives of those you love.

Every day, I see patients who complain of throat clearing, phlegm, and sore throat. Many of these people have seen their family doctors or have visited a walk-in clinic and have received antibiotics without improvement.
It gives me great pleasure to accurately diagnose and treat many of these patient for LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux aka silent reflux). As an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist I can place an endoscope (bright long light) down a patient’s nose to visualize their voice box. I can see if they have swelling in particular areas and diagnose them with LPR. The picture to the left demonstrates swelling in the area of the voice box.
LPR can be successfully treated with a regimen including both dietary and lifestyle changes. So if you are experience chronic sore throats and throat irritation it may be time to see your local ear, nose and throat specialist.
There a multitude of reasons why you may have a sore throat. Viruses, bacteria, post-nasal drip, sinusitis and reflux can all cause sore throats so it is difficult for patients to diagnose themselves. Many of these problems present similarly with sore throat, fever and perhaps nasal congestion. As Otolaryngologists a.k.a E.N.T. physicians we can combine our expertise with the modern diagnostic tools to determine why you have a sore throat. You may be surprised to find out that antibiotics are not necessary but lifestyle changes and antacids may be your ticket to throat health!
With many Long Islanders busy with post Sandy clean up, dust and debris in the air is on the rise. For those that are in the midst of construction, sheetrock dust is a constant companion infiltrating not only your clothes, but also your nasal passageways and throat. When these tiny particles land in your throat they cause local irritation. Add a dose of stress and a touch of fatigue and bingo — you get a throat infection.
I have been counseling my patients to get over the counter nasal saline irrigators as well as to rinse their mouths out several times a day. Of course, facial masks are also a good idea if appropriate. If you continue to have throat or nasal discomfort, you should seek medical attention from an ear, nose and throat specialist.
Here’s hoping that you able to ward off all winter illness!
